I chose the above image because it is symbolic of the burden of tension and activities required to actualize imperialism of/by America especially during the year of 1898. The objects held by the man in the image had been the most modern tools during that time to make lives of the Americans as convenient as possible. There had been specific lands used by America to ensure that other lands/regions could be reached and conquered. There had also been knowledge gained about geographic boundaries/locations and characteristics of different regions. There had been a policy developed for expanding the existing territories of America during that time.
